A UK-based surface treatment company, Powdertech Surface Science, has recently expanded its aluminium cleaning capabilities by installing a large-scale ultrasonic cleaning system at its facility in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

According to an industry report published on October 7, 2026, the new system has been integrated into the company's existing aluminium cleaning and pretreatment operations. It is designed to improve the removal of contaminants from complex surfaces, cavities and hard-to-reach areas.

Why Is Ultrasonic Cleaning Important for Aluminium Components?

As automotive, medical and precision engineering industries increasingly use lightweight aluminium components, surface cleanliness has become an important part of manufacturing quality.

Oil, grease and fine particles left on metal surfaces can affect subsequent processes such as coating, bonding and assembly.

Ultrasonic cleaning uses high-frequency sound waves to generate microscopic cavitation bubbles in a liquid. Their collapse helps remove contaminants from complex geometries that may be difficult to clean using conventional methods.

What Does This Mean for Manufacturers?

The Powdertech project highlights the growing importance of consistent cleaning processes in modern manufacturing.

For manufacturers handling aluminium housings, automotive parts, precision components and other metal products, choosing suitable cleaning equipment is an important step toward improving production quality.

At BSTSONIC, we provide ultrasonic cleaning solutions for industrial and precision cleaning applications, with customizable equipment options to meet different production requirements.
